Building Client Commitment

 

The HabitShift model, the core of the Building Client Commitment Workshop, is based on literally decades of research and tens of thousands of people who have changed successfully. It is a rigorous synthesis of proven practices based upon the ideas found in The Transtheoretical Model, neurolinguistic programming, accelerated learning, meditation, and coaching.

First, let's look at The Transtheoretical Model (TTM), otherwise known as the "Stages of Change". TTM says that most of us, at those times when we have changed successfully, followed roughly the same steps and used the same tactics as others who have successfully changed. In addition and more to the point, in spite of our lack of awareness of the pattern, we usually used specific tactics during specific steps which is the essential ingredient that moved us to the next step and eventually made us successful maintaining the shift.

By learning the basics of TTM, you will have the powerful advantage of understanding these steps and tactics so that you - and your client - can apply them consciously thereby dramatically increasing the probability of achieving great results. One caveat, however.

You are not in complete control of your client's life. They are not a marionette with you pulling their strings that are attached to each hand and leg. Moreover, what percentage of time are they with you out of all the time they spend living their lives? How many voices do they listen to in addition to yours that run counter to the messages you want them to hear? The learning: have no illusions about your level of control! Underestimate rather than overestimate.

The HabitShift model, as we like to say, dramatically improves the probability that you and your clients will see tremendous success but the competition is fierce and the outcomes are not guaranteed. There are simply too many uncontrolled elements in the lives of your clients to make your admittedly spectacular skills a sure bet.

By becoming skilled at applying Building Client Commitment, you are going to have a set of tools that are backed up by exhaustive research of the lives of real people who have really changed - and have made their changes STICK ! So at least you will be using the best tools available thereby making the most of the effort that you and your client put into the program.
